Potting Tray

If you don't have the luxury of a potting bench use this handy potting tray to keep the dirt off the top of your picnic table.

Material Required

3 ea. 1 x 6 cedar fence boards 4' long

20 ea. - 1 1/2" X 8 flat head wood screws

Assembly Instructions

Cut four 24" long boards and two 15 3/4" long boards from the fence boards. Glue and clamp three of the boards together with water-proof glue to make a panel 24" X 16 1/2" for the bottom.

Cut hand holes in the two 15 3/4" long pieces, they should be at least 4" long and 1 1/4" deep, centered on the boards 3/4" from the top.

Sand the hand holes, front edges and top of side boards and the top of the back board to make smooth rounded over edges.

Fasten the back board to the bottom with glue and four of the screws, then fasten the side pieces putting two screws in each board.

Make sure the smoothest side of the boards are facing the inside of box.

If you don't have long clamps for the bottom panel there are instructions here to make your own.

Instead of cutting hand holes screen door pulls can be fastened to the top of the side boards.
